Call for contributions: Tackling End-of-Life Challenges in Wind Infrastructure: Innovations, Insights, and Future Research Pathways Event

We are organising a workshop on the 24th of June 2025 (11.00-17.00) at the University of the West of England City Campus at Arnolfini, 16 Narrow Quay Bristol BS1 4QA. The workshop aims at bringing together wind energy professionals and policy makers that are working on the management of end of life of wind turbines with scholars from the fields of energy transitions, circular economy and related disciplines.

During the workshop the focus will be on sharing the emerging innovations, barriers, enablers, and pathways for expanding niche innovations into widespread adoption to advance our knowledge of the emerging business models, policy instruments and innovations to support the management of end of life of wind turbines.


We are looking for contribution to the following areas:
• Best practices for the management of end of life of wind infrastructure;
• Current and future technologies and opportunities to address the waste management challenges of end of life of wind turbines;
• The role of government and regulatory actors in shaping and addressing the end of life challenges of wind turbines;
• Scaling and mainstreaming circular solutions;
• Community involvement in the management of end of life of wind infrastructure
• Risk factors that might curtail the life of existing wind farms

During the day, we will be hearing from industry and academia on the emerging innovations, barriers, enablers for the management of end of life of wind infrastructure concluding with a  facilitated roundtable discussion on the emerging themes to identify actions to promote the sustainable management of end of life of wind infrastructure. The event will provide an opportunity for the participants to contribute insights, bringing diverse perspectives but also encouraging collaboration.
