The transition to sustainable end-of-life wind energy solutions is a collective effort. Here, we showcase the wider network of individuals and organisations whose work complements and enriches the aims of the Wind Energy End of Life Observatory.
Charlotte Stamper – Charlotte is the co-founder of The Circularity Collective, a coalition of freelance research consultants with a shared vision for an inclusive circular economy. She was previously renewables lead at EMR, where she setup its wind decommissioning business. Charlotte has expertise across a number of different fields relating to end-of-life wind, including developing commercial strategy, coordinating practical decommissioning works, quantitative market analysis, engineering R&D, and policy. The Circularity Collective – Real Change. Together.
Jonathan Fuller– Jonathan is responsible for the National Composites Centre’s work to develop cross-sector circular value chains for composites and aims to ensure that composites remain an integral part of the race to Net Zero in a way that maximises resource efficiency and value retention and minimises impact on the nine planetary boundaries. Since its inception in 2021, he has led the collaborative SusWIND programme, focusing on the end-of-life strategies of wind turbine blades, the application of circularity principles and alternative materials. He completed his PhD in Advanced Composites at the University of Bristol, focusing on non-linear applications of fibre alignment in composites. Since joining the NCC Jonathan has been involved introducing novel applications of composites into the energy sector. NCC | Innovating for Industry | NCCUK
Anne Velenturf– Anne is an circular economy expert. Her work includes applying circular economy to the decommissioning of infrastructure in the waste (e.g. landfills), extractive (e.g. mining and oil & gas), energy (e.g. wind, solar) and transport (e.g. electric vehicles, rail) sectors. Dr. Anne Velenturf | School of Civil Engineering | University of Leeds
EMR– EMR is a global metal recycling company that operates a specialist renewables decommissioning division. It has significant experience in end of life wind, where it has successfully carried out projects with circularity as a focus, including decommissioning of whole wind farms, reuse of components, and recycling of rare earth magnets.
